Olympic boxing great Stevenson dies

Three-time Olympic boxing champion Teofilo Stevenson of Cuba died Monday. He was 60 years old.

Numerous media outlets, including Fox News and CNN, have reported that Stevenson died of a heart attack.

Stevenson was the second boxer to win Olympic gold three times, and the first to do it in a single weight class, capturing the heavyweight title in 1972, 1976 and 1980. He was denied an opportunity to collect a fourth medal in 1984 when Cuba boycotted the Los Angeles Games.

Hungary's Lazlo Papp won gold at different weight classes -- first in 1948 at middleweight, then at light middleweight in 1952 and 1956.

Following his career, Stevenson joined the Cuban Boxing Federation and helped countrymate Felix Savon win Olympic heavyweight gold in 1992, 1996 and 2000.
