Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says starting defensive lineman Jarron Jones and safety Drue Tranquill have suffered season-ending injuries and defensive lineman Sheldon Day also will be out Saturday against Southern California.
Kelly says Jones is out with a torn ligament in his foot while Tranquill is out with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. Jones is seventh on the team with 40 tackles and was injured early in the game against Louisville. Tranquill, a freshman, started two of the past three games and is 10th on the team in tackles with 33.
Kelly says Day, who has 38 tackles, will miss a second straight game with a knee sprain.
Linebacker Nyles Morgan will sit the first half against USC after being called for targeting against Louisville.
