North Dakota State beat Western Illinois, 37-21, on Saturday to earn a share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference title and its automatic bid to the FCS playoffs.
No. 5 North Dakota State (10-1, 7-1) shared the title with No. 4 Northern Iowa (9-2, 7-1), which finished its season with a 23-20 overtime win at No. 14 Illinois State. But the Bison's 27-19 win over UNI on Oct. 29 was the tie- breaker that decided the automatic bid. The Panthers will earn an at-large bid on Sunday when the 20-team field is announced.
Sam Ojuri fueled North Dakota State's win with 128 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries.
