Despite pitching with a bone spur in his elbow, New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard is having a solid sophomore season that earned him an All-Star selection, and most recently, the cover of The New Yorker. The illustration is by artist Mark Ulriksen.
The last athletes to appear on the cover of The New Yorker were Usain Bolt and other Olympic sprinters (who were being chased by a swarm of mosquitoes). Derek Jeter was the last baseball player to land the cover in his retirement year.
