Chestnut Hill, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alyssa Thomas totaled 26 points and nine rebounds to power ninth-ranked Maryland to a 92-66 win over Boston College on Thursday.
Lexie Brown had 12 points and six assists for the Terrapins (23-5, 11-4 ACC), who have won eight of their last nine. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added 11 points and six boards.
Kristen Doherty scored 15 and Kat Cooper had 13 points for the Eagles (12-17,3-12), who have lost 11 of their last 12. Kelly Hughes and Nicole Boudreau contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, in defeat.
It was a tight back-and-forth first 14 1/2 minutes that featured 10 lead changes and three ties. Maryland took the lead and held it from that point forward after Thomas nailed a pair from the line. The Terrapins closed out the half on a 20-9 surge and took a 50-38 advantage into the locker room.
Boston College scored the first basket of the second half to come within 10 points, but that was the closest it came the rest of the way.
