KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Shekinna Stricklen scored 17 points and Glory Johnson had 16 points to lead No. 4 Tennessee in a sloppy 61-39 victory over Florida on Thursday night.
The Lady Vols (23-2, 11-0 Southeastern Conference) shot just 33.3 percent in the first half and had five quick turnovers in the first 5 minutes. The Gators (14-12, 4-8) couldn't take advantage, going cold for nearly 6 minutes in the first half.
Tennessee used a 14-0 run to take control of the game, thanks to outside shooting by Stricklen who made her first four shots, two of which were 3s. Johnson scored all of her points after halftime to help the Lady Vols pull away.
The Gators hit only 25 percent of their shots, barely improving over their 21.4 percent shooting performance in an 83-40 loss to Tennessee in Gainesville on Jan. 13.
Jaterra Bonds led Florida with 10 points.
