Syracuse, NY – Scoop Jardine scored 12 of his 16 points in 68 win over No. 10 Florida on Friday.
Jardine also dished out seven assists, grabbed four rebounds and added four steals for the Orange (8-0), who forced 20 Florida turnovers and out-rebounded the Gators, 17-10, on the offensive glass.
Brandon Triche scored 20 points and Kris Joseph added 14 points and five rebounds in the win.
Florida (5-2) came into the contest leading the country in three-pointers made per game with 12. But Syracuse's vaunted zone-defense clamped down on the Gators' perimeter game, limiting them to just 9-of-26 from three-point range.
In fact, Erving Walker was the only Gator to hit from beyond the arc in the first half, connecting on 3-of-5 attempts. The rest of the Gators were 0- for-9.
Kenny Boynton kept the Gators in the game with four second-half threes and finished the game with 22 points.
