Chay Shegog scored 16 points to help No. 24 North Carolina beat North Carolina State 60-50 on Sunday.
Candace Wood added 15 points for the Tar Heels (14-5, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won their second straight game to cap a week that began with the worst loss in program history, at Connecticut. North Carolina shot 42 percent but did its best work in frustrating the Wolfpack offense all afternoon, holding N.C. State to three field goals in the final 10½ minutes to finally take control.
Marissa Kastanek scored 20 points for the Wolfpack (13-7, 3-4), who shot just 28 percent from the floor and 8 for 29 from 3-point range. N.C. State had won three straight league games coming in, but fell to the Tar Heels for the 20th time in 24 meetings.
Kody Burke finished with 10 and was the only other N.C. State player to reach double figures.
