On another super-fast day at Michigan International Speedway, Austin Dillon won the pole for Saturday’s Alliance Truck Parts 250 Nationwide Series race with a speed of 190.375 miles per hour.
Half of the field broke the track record as Nationwide drivers soared around the freshly repaved two-mile track in final preparations for Saturday afternoon’s race.
Dillon, the final driver on the track in the time-trial session, edged Cole Whitt (189.708) for the first starting spot. Dillon was the only driver over the 190 mark.
Following in the top five were Joey Logano (who has four wins in the series this year), James Buescher and Danica Patrick.
In the second five were point leader Elliott Sadler, Paul Menard, Justin Allgaier, Brad Keselowski and Kenny Wallace.
