Nietes retains WBO light flyweight belt

Metro Manila, Philippines (SportsNetwork.com) - Donnie Nietes kept his WBO light flyweight title after a technical knockout win over Mexico's Gilberto Parra on Saturday.

Nietes (35-1-4, 21 KO) sent Parra (19-3) down to the canvas in the eighth round and later forced the match official to call the fight between the ninth and 10th.

Nietes retained his title for the sixth time.
