New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, general manager Billy King announced Thursday.

The injury occurred during Wednesday's preseason game at New York. Lopez will undergo surgery on Friday.

Taken 10th overall by the Nets in the 2008 NBA Draft, Lopez averaged 20.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists last season. The 23-year-old has yet to miss a game since entering the league.
