The NBA will hold the first-ever NBA Canada Series this October in the preseason, the league announced Tuesday.

The New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors will play at the Bell Centre in Montreal on October 19 and the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves will play at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on October 24.

This will be the first time games are being held in Canada as part of the league's international preseason schedule. In the past, the league has played games in China, Europe and Mexico.

"NBA Canada Series demonstrates the NBA's commitment to grow basketball in Canada and bring more live games and events to our growing fan base in the country," Don MacKenzie, vice president and general manager of NBA Canada, said. "The inaugural event will bring fans in the provinces of Quebec and Manitoba closer to the game and showcase the dedication of our players on and off the court."
