Nationals' Gio Gonzalez sharp for 6 innings, Mets win 3-1
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Washington lefty Gio Gonzalez allowed one run in six innings, but the New York Mets beat the Nationals 3-1 on Saturday.
Making his first Grapefruit League start since pitching for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, Gonzalez gave up four hits, struck out three and walked one.
Lucas Duda hit his fourth spring homer, connecting off Washington reliever Drew Storen in seventh for a tiebreaking solo shot.
Travis d'Arnaud added a RBI single in the Mets' eighth.
Washington's Chad Tracy was 3 for 3 with a double.
Mets starter Rafael Montero threw 4 2-3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out three.
