Genoa, Italy – Inter Milan secured its second successive win 0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
After a scoreless first half, Nagatomo nodded home a cross from Ricardo Alvarez at the back post to secure all three points for the road team.
Genoa thought it had taken the lead in the 56th minute when Andreas Granqvist headed a set piece delivery past Julio Cesar, but the referee pulled the goal back with Granqvist judged to have climbed over the back of his Inter defender.
Both teams continued to apply pressure on the offensive end.
Inter came within inches of doubling the advantage when Alvarez unleashed a shot from distance, but his effort struck the base of the post and was cleared to safety by the Genoa defense.
Genoa nearly tallied an equalizer in stoppage time, but Miguel Veloso's shot from outside the box forced a brilliant save from Cesar, who tipped the shot over the crossbar to preserve the clean sheet.
Inter has won four of its last five in the league and improves to 20 points on the season, tied with Palermo for sixth place, although Palermo holds the edge on goal differential.
Genoa has dropped three of its last four Serie A contests and sits one spot behind Inter in the table with 18 points.
