East Lansing, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Michigan State senior linebacker Max Bullough will not play in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 after being suspended for the remainder of the season for a violation of team rules.
The school released a statement confirming the suspension early Thursday morning, with head coach Mark Dantonio saying, "It is extremely disappointing for all parties involved. We will stay focused and close ranks as we prepare for Stanford on Jan. 1 in the Rose Bowl. Max will forever remain a Spartan and valued member in this team's achievements."
Bullough, a team captain, compiled 76 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks for the Spartans this season, earning All-America third team and All-Big Ten first team honors.
A three-year starter at middle linebacker, Bullough has 299 career tackles, 11 passes defensed, three interceptions and four forced fumbles.
