Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Freshman Shane Morris will get the call under center for the Michigan Wolverines, when they take on Kansas State in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl on Saturday.

"Yes, he will start the football game. He's had a really good preparation. We tried to see if Devin (Gardner) could go, and it just wasn't possible," said Michigan head coach Brady Hoke at a Thursday media session. "I think he's had some great preparation. Snap-wise Shane has taken a lot of the snaps between him and Russell Bellomy. He's done a tremendous job. I know his teammates have supported him. So we're excited about that."

Morris completed 5-of-9 passes for 65 yards and one interception in limited action over four games this season.

Gardner, who suffered a left foot injury in Michigan's (7-5) regular-season finale against Ohio State on Nov. 30, arrived with his team while wearing a walking boot and using crutches. The dynamic junior QB passed for 2,960 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 483 yards and 11 more scores.

"I think he's improving. That's just the way it has to heal up. He should be ready when we get to spring. But I'm not a doctor. We'll find out," Hoke offered.
