Major League Soccer will open the 2012 season March 10 with six matches, followed by two more games March 11, and one March 12 to complete First Kick weekend, the league announced Tuesday.

The Colorado Rapids, D.C. United, Los Angeles Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC will host games on the opening day of the season, which is a Saturday.

Chivas USA and FC Dallas will host matches Sunday, March 12, and the Portland Timbers will host the match on Monday, March 12 to wrap up opening weekend.

In Week 2, Sporting Kansas City, the expansion Montreal Impact, and Real Salt Lake will host their home openers March 17, and the Philadelphia Union start their home schedule March 18.

The Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, New England Revolution, and Toronto FC start their home schedules March 24, and Red Bull New York plays its first home game March 25.

The Houston Dynamo will be the last team to open their home schedule, as they unveil Dynamo Stadium on May 12.

Times and opponents will be included in the entire regular season schedule, which will be announced upon its completion in the coming weeks, according to the league.
