Missouri buries Cal in CBE Classic title game

Talk about a statement.

Kim English led six Tigers into double figures with 19 points, as No. 21 Missouri buried 20th-ranked California, 92-53, in the championship game of the CBE Classic.

Implementing a halfcourt pressure defense instead of the 94-feet trapping frenzy under new head coach Frank Haith, Missouri held California (4-1) star guard Jorge Gutierrez to 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting before he fouled out near the midway point of the second half. The Golden Bears made just 30 percent of their shots and 22 percent from long distance.

Marcus Denmon added 18 points and six rebounds, Matt Pressey donated 13 points, Michael Dixon registered 11 and Ricardo Ratliffe joined Steve Moore in double figures with 10 points apiece. Moore scored all of his career-best point total in the first half.
