Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Mets outfielder Michael Cuddyer exited early in Tuesday's game against Philadelphia after getting hit in the hand by a pitch.
Cuddyer was the second player plunked by Phillies starter David Buchanan during the second inning. X-rays were negative and he was diagnosed with a left hand contusion.
The 36-year-old, who signed a two-year deal with the Mets during the offseason, hit an RBI single during the first inning. He was replaced by outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
