Barcelona, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Barcelona completed its title-winning La Liga campaign on Saturday with a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou against Deportivo as Lionel Messi tallied both goals for the champions.
The Catalan side clinched the title with a win last weekend over Atletico Madrid, and Messi put them in front in the fifth minute when he headed home Rafinha's cross for his 42nd goal in La Liga.
The Argentina international collected a second goal just before the hour mark to make it 2-0 to the hosts and put Deportivo in deep trouble.
However, the visitors conjured up a response in the 67th minute with a goal from Lucas Perez and another from Diogo Salomao in the 76th, helping the club earn a draw to remain in the top flight on a tie-breaker.
Cristiano Ronaldo finished off his campaign in style by netting a first-half hat trick in second-place Real Madrid's 7-3 win over Getafe, giving the Portuguese star a league-leading 48 goals in league play this season.
Atletico Madrid clinched third place in a dull 0-0 draw with Granada that was just enough for both teams to achieve their goal coming into the game.
Granada's point allows them to stay in La Liga on a tie-breaker, while Eibar is heading down after losing out on the tie-breaker following a 3-0 triumph over last-place Cordoba.
Joining Eibar and Cordoba in the Segunda Division next season will be Almeria, which lost 3-2 at home to Valencia on a goal from Francisco Alcacer in the 80th minute.
The result allows Los Che to secure fourth place, one point better than fifth- place Sevilla, which won 3-2 at Malaga behind goals from Jose Antonio Reyes, Ever Banega and Aleix Vidal.
Athletic Bilbao used a pair of goals from Aritz Aduriz in a 4-0 thrashing of Villarreal, Levante and Elche battled to a 0-0 draw, Celta Vigo topped Espanyol, 3-2, with goals from Gustavo Cabral and Nolito in the final 30 minutes, and Real Sociedad downed Rayo Vallecano, 4-2, as Imanol Agirretxe and Gorka Elustondo scored for Sociedad to break a 2-2 deadlock.
