Mertens scores four to lead PSV past Roda

Dries Mertens tallied four goals on 1 win over Roda.

Ola Toivonen opened the scoring after 14 minutes while Roda had Jagos Vukiovic sent off five minutes later.

It didn't take long for PSV to take advantage as Mertens scored twice and Kevin Strootman added another goal in the span of 13 minutes to make it 4-0 at halftime.

Sanharib Malki pulled a goal back for Roda after the break, but Mertens added two more goals and Tim Matavz got his name on the scoresheet as well for PSV's fourth win in six games.

Roda has lost five of six and sits in 15th place.

Ajax 1, Twente 1

Amsterdam, Netherlands - Twente remained on top of the Eredivisie table on Saturday as Luuk de Jong scored in the 87th minute to help his team earn a 1-1 draw with Ajax.

The Amsterdam side brought a six-game unbeaten streak into the contest and grabbed the lead after nine minutes through Miralem Sulejmani, but De Jong's sixth goal of the season three minutes from time keeps his team one point clear of Ajax.

Den Haag 2, Venlo 0

The Hague, Netherlands - Venlo's winless streak continued on Saturday as the club fell 2-0 to Den Haag.

Both sides have struggled at the beginning of the season with Den Haag having lost four of five while Venlo has yet to record a win this season.

John Verhoek put Den Haag into the lead in the 20th minute and Gabor Horvath doubled the lead five minutes before halftime to secure the win.

Heerenveen 1, Heracles 1

Heerenveen, Netherlands - Heracles grabbed a point on Saturday at Heerenveen when Samuel Armenteros scored the equalizer 19 minutes from time.

Heerenveen had won back-to-back matches prior to Saturday and took the lead just before the half-hour mark through Oussama Assaidi, only for Armenteros to snatch a point for his side when he followed up his own shot to score his first goal of the season.

NAC 1, Utrecht 0

Breda, Netherlands - NAC used a goal in stoppage time from Kees Luijckx to claim a 1-0 win over Utrecht on Saturday.

Michael Zullo was sent off just before halftime for Utrecht, but it took until the dying moments of the game for NAC to take advantage as Utrecht had a three-game unbeaten streak snapped.
