SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Mikh McKinney scored 19 points and Nick Hornsby 15 as Sacramento State defeated North Dakota 71-65 on Thursday night.
Sacramento State (12-12, 8-7 Big Sky) shot 57.7 percent in the first half, led by McKinney with 10 points, in taking a 37-22 lead at the break. The Hornets finished at 50 percent shooting in winning their sixth straight home conference game.
The Hornets were up 16 points with 6:05 left when UND (11-14, 8-7) went on a 10-0 run. A three-point play by Alonzo Traylor got UND within five, 64-59, with 47.9 seconds to play but the Hornets responded with four free throws for a safe nine-point advantage at 70-61 with 29 seconds left.
Jamal Webb equaled his career high with 23 points to lead UND.
UND won at home over Sacramento State on 82-71 on Jan. 23. Those two teams are part of a five-way tie for third place.
