Miami, FL – Miami Marlins pitcher Kevin Slowey may miss the rest of the season due to a right flexor strain.
The strain will require four to six weeks of rest before he can throw again.
The 29-year-old right-hander experienced pain in his throwing arm while warming up in the bullpen during Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Pirates. He is currently on the 15-day disabled list.
Slowey has been a part of both the Marlins rotation and bullpen since signing a minor-league deal this offseason. He is 3-6 with a 4.11 ERA in 20 games (14 starts) this season.
A former member of the Twins, he spent five seasons in Minnesota before spending the entire 2012 season on the disabled list with Columbus, the Cleveland Indians' Triple-A affiliate.
