The Miami Marlins made it official on Friday and year contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but Fox Sports had reported it to be worth $58 million.
Buehrle had spent his entire 12-year career with the Chicago White Sox, posting a 161-119 mark with a 3.83 earned run average in 390 games (365 starts). He was 13-9 with a 3.59 ERA in 31 starts this past season.
The 32-year-old lefty will be reunited with his longtime manager, Ozzie Guillen, who accepted a job with Miami at the end of this past season.
Buehrle has been the model of consistency over his career, as 2011 marked his 11th straight season with at least 200 innings, 10 wins and 30 starts, the longest active streak in baseball.
He has thrown a pair of no-hitters in his career, including a perfect game in 2009, and has been selected to the All-Star Game four times while winning three Gold Glove awards.
Of course, Buehrle's signing is just the latest addition to a Marlins team that has already added shortstop Jose Reyes and closer Heath Bell.
