The Miami Marlins activated first baseman Logan Morrison from the 60-day disabled list Sunday and placed outfielder Chris Coghlan on the 15-day DL with right calf nerve irritation.

Morrison batted .230 with 11 home runs and 36 runs batted in last season, but played in just 93 games due to a right knee injury, which required surgery in September.

The 25-year-old Morrison hasn't played in the majors since July 28 of last season, but is starting at first base and hitting fifth Sunday as the Marlins wrap up a rain-shortened two-game series against the New York Mets.

Coghlan started in center field Saturday but was replaced after eight innings in the Marlins' 20-inning marathon against the Mets. Coghlan was hitting .277 with one homer and 10 RBI through 51 games this season.
