Mariners shut down RHP Pryor for season

The Seattle Mariners announced on Sunday that reliever Stephen Pryor is not expected to pitch competitively for the remainder of the 2013 season due to a triceps injury.

Pryor was originally placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 15 with a torn right latissimus dorsi muscle. He was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 17.

The 24-year-old Pryor felt discomfort during a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Tacoma and underwent an MRI exam Saturday in Seattle. He was diagnosed with an injured right triceps muscle.

Pryor, who will be re-evaluated in the coming week, made seven appearances for the Mariners this season. He went 3-1 with a 3.91 ERA in 26 appearances as a rookie in 2012.
