Abner Mares earned a majority decision over Joseph Agbeko to take home the IBF bantamweight belt Saturday.
Mares (22-0-1) won 115-111 on two scorecards, while the third was tied 113-113.
He knocked Agbeko (28-3) down in the first round, and then overcame a cut over his left eye -- which was caused by an accidental head butt in the sixth -- to put the defending champion on the mat again in the 11th.
