Lyon held by Evian

Lyon moved three points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table on Friday after being held to a 0-0 draw with Evian at the Stade de Gerland.

Lyon had the upper hand in the first half, controlling nearly 70 percent of the possession and firing five shots, but neither side could find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.

After the interval, Lyon continued its dominance, keeping over 60 percent of the ball, but Evian goalkeeper Stephan Andersen made five saves to salvage an important point for his side.

Lyon had a chance at a late winner in stoppage time as Clement Grenier swung a corner kick into the box, but Lisandro Lopez's header sailed over the bar.

Evian moved to 16th place on 20 points from 21 matches, one point clear of the relegation zone.

Third-place Marseille highlights Saturday's matches as the club will take to the pitch against ninth-place Montpellier for the first time without striker Loic Remy, who completed a move to Queens Park Rangers earlier in the week.

After suffering a 3-1 defeat to Sochaux last week, Marseille will look to pull within one point of Lyon at the top of the table, while Sochaux takes on Reims at the Stade Bonal looking for its second consecutive victory.

Elsewhere on Saturday, a struggling Ajaccio will attempt to halt a three-game losing streak in league play when they host 10th-place Valenciennes at the Stade Francois-Coty, while Brest meets St. Etienne looking to extend its winning streak to three games.

Lorient will try to get back in the win column after a 2-0 setback to Montpellier when it hosts a scuffling Troyes side which has dropped two straight league matches and is six points from safety. Toulouse rounds out Saturday's slate with a clash against bottom-of-the-table Nancy.

On Sunday, PSG travels to Bordeaux hoping to bounce back from a scoreless draw with Ajaccio, while Lille looks to jump fifth-place Nice when the two clash at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole. Rennes takes on mid-table side Bastia intent on bouncing back from a 2-2 draw with Bordeaux last time out.
