Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Lynx have re-signed center Janel McCarville to a multi-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"I'm thrilled Janel has decided to remain a Lynx," said Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve in a statement Thursday. "Her personality and her on-court talent are a perfect match for our team."

McCarville averaged 6.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and a career-best 2.9 assists in 32 games last season, her first with the Lynx after a two-year hiatus playing overseas. She also averaged 5.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the playoffs to help Minnesota to a second WNBA title in three seasons.

"I'm excited to be back with the Lynx," said McCarville. "Last year was obviously a great season for us, both on and off the court. I had so much fun playing alongside all of the amazing talent on our roster, and I can't wait to do it all over again this summer as we defend our title."

McCarville owns career averages of 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 291 games over seven WNBA seasons. She was selected by Charlotte with the first overall pick of the 2005 WNBA Draft and played two seasons with the Sting before spending four years with New York.
