Romelu Lukaku is adjusting nicely to life at Everton as the on-loan forward netted two goals and assisted on another in Everton's 3-2 win over Newcastle at Goodison Park on Monday.
Lukaku, who is on loan from Chelsea, scored in his first appearance last week and followed it up with a tremendous first-half display that helped to propel the Toffees into fourth place, leaving the club as the only unbeaten team left in the Premiership.
It took the home side less than five minutes to take the lead as Kevin Mirallas did some nice work on the right wing to set up a first-time shot for Lukaku, which beat goalkeeper Tim Krul despite the netminder getting a hand to the ball.
Ross Barkley doubled the lead in the 25th after a well-weighted pass from Lukaku put him in on goal, where he slotted his shot inside the left post.
A long clearance from Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard led to the third goal in the 37th when the ball was allowed to skip into the penalty area for Lukaku. The forward took advantage of a late reaction from Krul and rounded the goalkeeper before firing into the empty net.
The Magpies showed some life in the second half with Yoan Gouffran hitting the post in the opening minutes before substitute Yohan Cabaye scored on a brilliant shot from 25 yards.
Loic Remy pulled a second goal back for the visitors in the 89th, but it came too late and Everton held on for the win.
