Quito, Ecuador (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seed Feliciano Lopez was an easy second-round winner Thursday at the Ecuador Open.
The veteran Spanish left-hander swatted 11 aces in handling Colombia's Alejandro Gonzalez 7-5, 6-2 at the clay court event.
Lopez saved the only break point he faced in the match, which lasted one hour and 21 minutes.
Third-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain also was a straight-set winner over Austria's Gerald Melzer, winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
He moved on to face fifth-seeded Italian Paolo Lorenzi, who beat Colombian Alejandro Falla 7-5, 6-1.
Also Thursday, rising seventh-seeded Serb Dusan Lajovic outlasted Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to set-up a quarterfinal match with Lopez.
This week's champion will claim $80,000.
