Liverpool, England – Liverpool defender Martin Kelly will be out for the rest of 2012 after sustaining a knee injury in his team's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
Kelly went down awkwardly in the second half of the defeat and scans on Monday revealed that he has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture of his right knee.
The 22-year-old started four of Liverpool's first five games in league play, but he isn' expected to return to action until 2013.
Daniel Agger and Fabio Borini also left the field with injuries on Sunday for the Reds, with Agger sustaining a bone bruise to his left knee, while Borini had a scan on his ankle which indicated no fracture.
Both players will have further tests to determine how long they will spend on the sidelines.
