Liverpool will play Roma in a preseason exhibition game at Fenway Park on July 23, a rematch of their 2012 meeting at the Boston ballpark.

Roma beat the Reds 2-1 on July 25, 2012, getting second-half goals from American midfielder Michael Bradley and Alessandro Florenzi before Charlie Adam scored late for Liverpool.

Liverpool was bought in 2010 by the parent company of the Boston Red Sox, now known as Fenway Sports Group. A group of four Boston executives closed a deal for Roma the following year and Thomas DiBenedett, a limited partner in the Fenway group, was Roma's president from September 2011 until the following August.

The game announced Wednesday is part of a U.S. tour for Liverpool that includes matches against Olimpiakos on July 27 at Chicago's Soldier Field, Manchester City at New York's Yankee Stadium on July 30, and AC Milan on Aug. 2 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
