Sabine Lisicki overcame a lapse at the end of the second set to beat Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1 at Wimbledon Tuesday and reach her first Grand Slam semifinal.
The 21-year-old German had three chances to win the match at 5-4 in the second set but the determined Bartoli rallied to win the set and take the match into a decider.
Bartoli, who beat two-time defending champion Serena Williams in the previous round, appeared to tire in the third set. She quickly went 3-0 down and this time Lisicki closed out the win.
Lisicki is the only second wild-card entry to reach the women's semifinals in Wimbledon history. She will face either Maria Sharapova or Dominika Cibulkova in the semifinals Thursday.
