Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Lions signed cornerback Chris Owens and wide receiver Greg Salas to one-year contracts on Wednesday.
Owens played in 11 games with three starts for the Kansas City Chiefs last year and recorded 33 tackles. The San Jose State product has 217 tackles, four sacks and three interceptions over 83 career games (17 starts) with Atlanta, Cleveland, Miami and Kansas City.
Salas played in 10 games (two starts) with the Jets in 2014 and had eight catches for 167 yards. The Hawaii product has 43 catches for 574 yards in 25 career games with the Rams, Patriots and Jets.
The Lions also signed their 2015 second-round pick, running back Ameer Abdullah. He rushed for 1,690 yards in 2013 and 1,611 this past season at Nebraska.
Additionally, Detroit released wide receiver Skye Dawson.
