Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Lions placed rookie linebacker Kyle Van Noy on short-term injured reserve Tuesday and signed veteran Darryl Tapp.

Van Noy, who was drafted in the second round out of BYU, had surgery last week to repair a core muscle injury. He will be eligible to play following Week 8.

Tapp, 29, spent last season with the Washington Redskins. He has played eight NFL seasons with Seattle, Philadelphia and Washington, mostly as a defensive end.
