Liberty football will kick off the 2013 season at Kent State and play seven of its 12 games at home, the Big South university announced Thursday.

The Flames, coming off a 6-5 record and a share of the conference title in coach Turner Gill's first season, will visit Kent State on Aug. 29 in the season opener for both schools.

Liberty will host future Big South member Monmouth in its home opener on Sept. 7 and also host Morgan State (Sept. 14), Kentucky Wesleyan (Sept. 28) and Brevard (Nov. 16) in non-conference action. The Flames will host Coastal Carolina (Oct. 19), VMI (Nov. 2) and Presbyterian (Nov. 9) in Big South games.

The remainder of the schedule has Liberty visiting Richmond (Sept. 21), Old Dominion (Oct. 5) and Big South opponents Gardner-Webb (Oct. 26) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 23).

This is the third time Liberty will play a 12-game regular-season schedule.
