Liberty Bowl announces six-year deal with Big 12

The Liberty Bowl announced a six-year deal with the Big 12 that will take effect in the 2014 season.

The opponent for the Big 12 in the Liberty Bowl will be the Southeastern Conference. Liberty Bowl officials say they will have the fourth selection of Big 12 teams after that league's college football playoff representatives have been chosen.

"We are excited and proud to welcome the Big 12 Conference to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl," said Steve Ehrhart, executive director of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. "Our new partnership with the Big 12 gives the AutoZone Liberty Bowl the opportunity to showcase two of America's outstanding universities each year and generate a huge economic impact for our community."

The Liberty Bowl currently matches the Conference USA champion against an SEC representative.
