St. Paul, MN – Danell Leyva captured the senior men's all- time defending champion Jonathan Horton.
Leyva excelled on the horizontal bar and finished with a two-day combined total of 183.8 points, 2.75 ahead of Horton.
"It feels great ... amazing," Leyva said. "To fulfill one of the goals you put on paper, to be able to scratch one of those off the list, it is an amazing feeling."
Horton fell on the high bar, making it impossible to catch Leyva, who was flawless on the final night of competition.
"I made mistakes," Horton said. "It's hard to beat someone who didn't make mistakes. I think Danell and I make a great team on the international stage. We'll show people that we're ready to challenge the very best."
John Orozco claimed the bronze medal in the all-around competition with a 180.500 total.
