Lehigh University wide receiver Ryan Spadola has been suspended for Saturday's Football Championship Subdivision quarterfinal at North Dakota State.

Spadola, the Mountain Hawks' leading receiver, was publicly reprimanded and suspended by the NCAA FCS Championships Committee for using a disparaging remark containing a racial slur on Twitter prior to last weekend's 40-38 second-round win at Towson.

"The football committee was very disappointed with the unsportsmanlike action taken by the student-athlete," said Jim ODay, chair of the committee and director of athletics at the University of Montana. "This was a very unfortunate incident, but racially insensitive characterizations are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The offensive language of this nature by Mr. Spadola, whether intentional or not, was unsportsmanlike and discredited the championship overall."

Spadola, who has caught 96 passes for 1,614 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games this season, has since apologized for the incident.
