Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber topped Croatia's Marin Cilic in straight sets Sunday to win the $525,000 BMW Open, a clay-court French Open tuneup.
Kohlschreiber, seeded fourth, saved seven of the eight break points he faced in a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 win over the third-seeded Cilic.
It was the fourth career title for the 28-year-old Kohlschreiber, while Cilic was denied his seventh. Cilic also lost the 2010 final to Mikhail Youzhny.
Kohlschreiber improved to 5-3 lifetime against Cilic and earned $95,000 for the win.
