Lexington, KY – University of Kentucky quarterback Maxwell Smith left Saturday's game against South Carolina with an ankle injury.
Smith completed a 9-yard pass on the Wildcats' first offensive play, but was then sacked on the second by South Carolina's Byron Jerideau.
Smith's ankle rolled up underneath him on the play and he was forced to leave.
He was looked at by trainers on the sidelines for several minutes before being carted to the locker room for X-rays.
Jalen Whitlow replaced Smith under center.
