Miyoshi, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Shingo Katayama edged Hidemasa Hoshino and Satoshi Tomiyama in a playoff on Sunday to win the Tokai Classic.
Katayama, who lost the event in a playoff in 2012, carded a 5-under-par 67 during the final round to end 72 holes alongside Hoshino (67) and Tomiyama (69) at 7-under 281. Katayama earned his 27th Japan Golf Tour title and first since the Taiheiyo Masters in 2008.
Kunihiro Kamii shot 66 to finish alone in fourth place at 4-under 284, while Shunsuke Sonoda (71) and Toshinori Muto (76) tied for fifth at minus-2.
Peter Uihlein, coming off a runner-up tie at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the European Tour, fired a final-round 68 to finish in a share of seventh at 1-under 287.
