Kansas City signs midfielder Joseph
Kansas City, KS – Sporting Kansas City signed 21-year-old Haitian midfielder Peterson Joseph on Thursday.
Joseph earned his first international appearance in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Netherlands Antilles and has gone on to represent Haiti on five more occasions.
He began his career domestically with Aigle Noir AC of Port-au-Prince, then joined Braga in Portugal in 2007.
"Peterson is a good, young talent, with strong qualities that over time will make him a valuable asset to the way we play," Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes said.
"We've been trying to complete this signing for a while and we are excited to add him to our roster at such a critical time in our season."
Joseph joins Sporting as a discovery signing after an extensive trial period that saw the midfielder appear in two reserve matches as well as the club's friendly against Newcastle.
Joseph will be added to the team's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa. He will occupy an international roster spot. In keeping with team policy, terms of the contract will not be disclosed.
