K-Rod accepts Brewers' arbitration offer

Dallas, TX – Right-handed reliever Francisco Rodriguez has decided to accept the Milwaukee Brewers' arbitration offer.

Unable to land a deal to his liking, Rodriguez will stay on for another year in Milwaukee and will get a nice raise from the $11.5 million he earned last season.

Given his high salary last season it was odd that the Brewers even offered him arbitration considering he would be a set-up man at best with John Axford entrenched as the team's closer.

Rodriguez, who was acquired on July 12 of last season in a trade from the New York Mets, had a mutual option worth $17.5 million dollars for next season declined by the Brewers shortly after the end of the season.

The major-league record holder for saves in a single season (62), Rodriguez had a 6-2 record with a 2.64 ERA and 23 saves last season, serving mainly as an eighth-inning man with Milwaukee.
