Jones' hat trick in third carries Oilers over Columbus
Edmonton, AB – Ryan Jones scored three times in the third 3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.
Jones' last tally, an empty-netter in the final minute, gave the forward his first career hat trick and capped a five-goal third period for the Oilers.
Ladislav Smid and Ales Hemsky also scored in the period for Edmonton, which overcame a 2-1 deficit to snap a three-game losing streak. Devan Dubnyk had 36 saves and Jordan Eberle netted the other goal.
Derek Dorsett scored twice to lead the Blue Jackets, who fell to 1-2 on a four-game road trip. Mark Letestu added a goal and Curtis Sanford gave up five goals on 33 shots.
