Jimmy Butler on returning same Bulls team: 'It wasn't enough last year'

While most NBA teams look to add pieces during the offseason to bolster the roster, the Chicago Bulls are bringing back last year's squad almost exactly as they had been previously constructed.

Gone is head coach Tom Thibodeau, of course, and Fred Hoiberg is the man tasked with getting more out of essentially the same group of guys. The only addition in terms of player personnel was Bobby Portis, who was selected by the team with the 22nd overall pick in this summer's draft.

The Bulls were pretty good last season. But can the same group of guys show enough improvement to contend for a title in the upcoming season? That's something Jimmy Butler wondered aloud, as reported by Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago.

"We got the same team. Is it enough? I don't know, I guess we'll find out," Butler said. "It wasn't enough last year. The only thing we changed was the coach."

If that sounds like concern coming from Butler, it shouldn't be taken that way. Earlier this summer, he told us that despite bringing back the same team without having made any significant changes, he's more than optimistic about the Bulls' chances to compete for a championship in the immediate future.
