Jets sign Jason Smith

Florham Park, NJ – The New York Jets signed offensive tackle Jason Smith on Friday.

Smith, a former second overall draft choice of the St. Louis Rams in 2009, was released by the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday. The Baylor product played in 16 games for Jets last season.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Smith spent the first three years of his career with the Rams. He has played in 45 career games (26 starts).

The Jets also released center Scott Wedige.
