The New York Jets continue to cut ties with their aging players, releasing veteran wideout Brandon Marshall, according to multiple reports Thursday.
Marshall spent the past two years with the Jets, catching a career-high 14 touchdowns in 2015. But his production dipped dramatically last season, finishing with 788 receiving yards -- less than half of his 2015 total -- and only three TDs.
The 32-year-old wideout is the latest 30-plus former Pro Bowl player to be released by the Jets, following Darrelle Revis and Nick Mangold. Marshall, who was named to his sixth Pro Bowl in 2015, requested the release, according to New York Newsday so he can find a better fit.
The 11-year veteran should still draw interest in the open market. The move save the Jets $7.5 million in cap space.
