Jets excited to have 1st-rounder Milliner signed, insist he doesn't need to be Revis
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Rex Ryan says newly signed first-round draft pick Dee Milliner is "never" going to be like Darrelle Revis. The New York Jets just want the former Alabama star to be as good a cornerback as they expect.
Milliner, the No. 9 overall pick, agreed to terms on a four-year deal late Sunday night. He did not arrive in time Monday morning to join his Jets teammates at practice, but was expected at SUNY Cortland later in the day to officially sign his deal.
Milliner will need to pass his physical and conditioning test to begin practicing, but Ryan is unsure when that will happen. Milliner missed the entire offseason while recovering from shoulder surgery in March.
Milliner is expected to compete for Revis' vacant starting spot opposite Antonio Cromartie.
